Maximizing Your Macros: Protein
Counting your macros and not sure how to get the most out of it? This month I'll be posting all about how to maximizing your macros. First up... Protein
Maximizing your macros is a great way to get the most nutritional value and stay within your goals. Understanding how and what to eat to maximize your macros will help you to fuel your body. It's unlikely that it'll come easily and you'll get it right away, but if you make small progress in the right direction, it'll one day feel like second nature.
How do you maximize your protein? Focus on lean meats and vegetables high in protein. Fatty meats are tasty and also a great source of protein, but they're not a good source of much else. They can be harmful to your heart and overall health. Things like steak and pork may taste great, but if you're trying to maximize your protein, they might not be the most efficient way to do that.
If you focus on getting your protein from lean meat you will keep your heart healthy and by getting protein from veggies, you'll also get plenty of good micronutrients and vitamins. Some examples of these foods:
Chicken
Turkey
Broccoli
Spinach
Asparagus
Bussels Sprouts
Do not take this as me directing you to avoid certain foods, this is merely an explanation of good ways to maximize the macronutrient protein. If you love steak, eat it! Depriving yourself could be just as harmful. Instead, considering eating it in moderation and also consuming foods that will be more efficient in maximizing your protein.
